Therapist: Nicolette K. MS, DT
Nikki Komie founded Nicolette Komie & Associates LLC from a strong desire to merge relationship-based approaches with behavioral models so that each child and family could have an individualized model to grow from. Nikki holds a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology and a masters degree in child development, with a specialization in birth-3. Nikki’s passionate about working with children and families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), disorders of relating and communicating and sensory processing challenges. She is a credentialed state evaluator and developmental therapist that has worked with children and parents for over 20 years. She is an advanced DIR/floor time model provider with extensive training in sensory processing, ABA, TEACCH, Social Thinking, RDI and Handle with Care. Nikki is passionate about helping each child reach their fullest potential, collaborating with schools, as well as building social experiences that match each child’s profile. Nikki enjoys spending her free time with her 3 children and husband, traveling, baking and gardening.

Therapist: Candice K., M.E.d, DT
Candice has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum Development from National Louis University. Candice has always loved working with children and came into this field after working as a teacher in first- and second-grade classrooms. She most enjoys figuring out each child’s learning style to help them learn new skills. Candice enjoys spending her free time with her family, working on arts and crafts, and playing games with her children.

Therapist: Heather S., MS, DT
Heather has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Roosevelt University and a Master of Science in Child Development from Erikson Institute. Heather realized her passion for working with children while caring for her nephew and working at a day care center in high school. Heather feels that the most rewarding part of her job is seeing children smile during her interactions with them. She also loves watching children accomplish new skills and reach their developmental milestones. In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her large family, creating scrapbooks, and playing softball.

Therapist: Mariana B., MS, CCC-SLP
Mariana has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University and a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Midwestern University. Mariana discovered her love for teaching children after working at a day care center in high school. She feels that the most rewarding part of her job is watching children gain independence and confidence when they are heard by others in the world around them. Mariana enjoys spending her free time in the outdoors whenever possible; she especially loves running, hiking, and reading.

Deana has a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Saint Xavier University. Deana is also a Learning Behavior Specialist I, endorsed in English Language Learning. Deana has a deep passion for the field both professionally and personally, as she is a mother of three children who were all born premature, providing her special insight to having a child with various medical and developmental challenges. She enjoys using children’s individual strengths and interests to help them reach their full potential. Deana loves to spend her free time with her family.

Beth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science degree in Child Development with an Infants and Toddlers specialization from Erikson Institute. Beth enjoys working with children and families using a parent-focused model to build on the strengths of the parent-child relationship. She finds building collaborative partnerships with parents to promote each child’s secure attachment, playful exploration, and communication skills to be a very rewarding part of her work. Beth loves to spend her free time with her family.

Therapist: Kelly K., BS
Kelly has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She joins this field after teaching in a childcare setting as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher. Through her time teaching, she has found a passion for identifying each child's interests to enhance their learning style. Kelly finds the most rewarding part of her job to be helping a child gain a new skill or achievement. Kelly enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, and running.

Therapist: Amy G., MA, CCC-SLP
Amy has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University. While teaching she developed a strong passion for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and speech & language development. Amy finds working with children and families to build communication with one another to be one of the most rewarding parts of her job. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, baking, and playing with her dog Rosco.

Therapist: Natalie N., BS, DT
Natalie has a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Science from Illinois State University. Natalie's passion for children started at a young age. Natalie has experience working with children with a variety of different disabilities, as well as working in daycare centers and private homes. Natalie's favorite part of her job is establishing a relationship with the child and their families. It is most rewarding to her when she gets to see the progress children make. In her free time, Natalie likes to spend time with her friends and family and to spend time outdoors.

Clinical Assistant: Jana W., BS
Jana has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology with
concentrations in Special Education and Early Childhood Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Jana is also working on getting her Masters degree in Child Development with a concentration in Infancy. Jana has an older brother who has significant special needs. Being his sister has guided her through life, and into her career aspirations. She has worked at his summer camp for years, where she found her passion for working with young children who have special needs. Jana likes to spend time with friends and travel in her free time. |
Therapist: Scott D., BS
Scott has a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from The College at Brockport State University of New York. Scott began working with teens and adults with special needs almost 10 years ago in a school to work transition program. Upon moving out of Western New York, Scott pursued a career in ABA with a focus on working with teens and children and has since found that it is the career that he wants to further pursue. In Scott's free time he enjoys being with family, playing with his kids, and exploring Chicagoland.
